The water coming in

4th of July yesterday. This was supposed to be the first year in which the 4th of July could actually mean something (as I am an English teacher and we get a day off) but it was ruined by the forces because it landed on a gloomy cold sunday.

Anyway we get some days off because Peru's independence day is on july 28th (but we get like 3 days off, so yay!)

Our winter is getting colder and colder, but that doesn't wane our will, and so we went off to the northern part of Lima and we head to Supe puerto, a very small fishing town, a little depressed but with good willing people.

I was just there to have a getaway sunday with my boyfriend who had to be there showing the town to an Hodurean resident who has a very nice idea for a workshop there.

We had a very nice day, and a little walk around the beach.

La linda, el POD...etc

It's been so long since I've made my last post here. Many things have changed in these 3 years (I can't believe it's been so long!) To begin with we haven't made a doll since Sara's Frankie, The Stalker finished college and now is a respectable media manager, I again changed lanes in my career and now I am an English teacher (with my terrible grammar and all, hehe I am learning more English than ever in this process) , I no longer use the bus to go home from work, now I have a car! I met the nicest guy ever to whom I am very in love with. But some things will never change and that is my deep love for music and my impulsive willingness to create, learn and amuse myself with new things.

In these three years I have been crafting a new hobby: Photography. It all started with those pictures I posted when I first got my Pentax K10D, that piece of wires and metal had brought me so many things! I didn't thought about it before, but if I hadn't gotten that camera I would've never gotten so deep into the rock music scene in Peru, I wouldn't have worked for a music magazine and I probably wouldn't have met my boyfriend (well, that who knows, those things are meant to be).

Anyhow, years passed us by and we are no longer the same, although many things remains. I wanted to start a new blog about photography and a new blog about English teaching for toddlers (actually I am thinking about doing so for the later idea) but somehow I always manage to prevent myself of doing so, and reminding myself to continue with this one. The thing is that I no longer make dolls nor I bake (that was random), because I don't have much free time. Instead I have devoted myself to photography, not less time consuming, but at least it's something you can do on the go.

So I decided to maintain this blog. Whoever stumbles upon here and likes the dolls, is more than welcome to use the tutorial, and mail me for patterns and tips, or maybe ideas. But I won't be posting crafts related to dolls anytime soon. Let's avoid NEVER, because it's something I truly enjoy and the minute I have time to spare I will definitely go back to doll making.
For the mean time I will use this blog to post photos and other stuff. It will be more like a journal if you wish to call it someway.

I leave you with some of my photos, enjoy!

A Frank Doll in Finland

Welly well, back in July Tish and I made a Frank doll for my beloved friend Sara, who lives in Finland. This was an odd event since everybody knows we don't give dolls aways just like that -we've been asked over a thousand times from strangers and cyber friends to make them dolls - but, lucky for Sara, we just felt like doing it.
You know....we would make dolls for all of our friends, it's just that it's exhausting and demanding...and if we don't make the dolls with patience and love, and we make them just because we HAVE to, they end up icky and ugly. So we prefer to keep the pretty ones for ourselves, and none ugly to you all =)
So anyway, one day I decided we needed a new Frank doll, a "Black Parade" doll, since we already have the "Three Cheers" one....but in the process of thinking of doing a new one, we thought our current Frankie would feel the rejection, as it always had.

Sara's birthday was getting closer, so I decided to make this doll for her as a present. Yeah, all of you MCR whores: hate the lucky bitch! xD
Anyway..after months of begging her to send me pics of the beloved doll, she finally gave me this crappy picture:

notice the "tiny" detail?? Sara you perv!

so that's the doll....finito.

Trip to Argentina - a litlle blurb about The Killers and Travis

After a week of returning from Argentina I decided to write about it. Well the trip was great thank you! we have some anecdotes from it too. I wont be too blah about those, only that we saw someone get caught for smuggling drugs and that we eye witnessed some of the most stupid people working for an airline! PLEASE NEVER USE TACA, they have a terrible service!. I made this trip with a couple of friends we actually only travelled because we wanted to go to see The Killers live. The argument was: what is there to see in Buenos Aires, just another big city!!!, we were so naive!...It is actually a beautiful city with very kind and warm people...some of them don't actually make favor to their country ... (some taxi driver wanted to mugged us with some bills and some idiots with bad temper) but aside the regular assholes such as tenders and drivers people is really nice and warm. Anyway, Friday November 2nd the killers!..I awaited for that day like it was a crucial date...nah! nothing compared to October 8th 2005! (green day) anyway I was excited. We waited in line for about 6 hours. The sun was a killer but the guys who hanged with us made it a bit easier. Outside the common thought was...I came for the killers!!! only one out of ten said for Travis or Starsailor...I never before heard about starsailor anyway. I was so tired that I started to wonder " I am going to collapse or fall asleep while listening to Travis" ... Is not that I didn't like the band..but the music is kind of slow and I needed something to pump me up. Anyway, the show started, the performance from Starsailor was ok, they were cool and did a cover song of Umbrella ..which was funny because my friends were all like...this song is so cool!!! I noticed inmediately they didnt recognize what it was..until the chorus came and both of them turned to me and said: "Is that the Rhyanna song??" yup! it actually sounded decent to my disbelief. The guys did well, the singer was kind of wasted but he looked cute and childish so it was forgivable. Next band: Travis, here is when I start the dispute with my friends, after the show I started to bash The Killers and said that Travis completely stole the show!. why?, because the guys of Travis are nice and have interaction with the audience, there was a moment when the whole stadium started to sing a type of footballish chant to cheerch up the band and they looked so happy! Fran started to follow the song with his guitar and next thing we were all chanting accompanied with an improvised musical arrangement..it was fantastic!..even the entrance was cool...one of my friends told me that the presentation was lame, because they didnt have a back banner or any type of garnish on stage on the contrary to The Killers which made a little moulin rouge up there, but the difference was immense, while Brandon Flowers just sings and dances like an epileptic, Fran Healy is receptive to his audience and makes contact with them. Dougie was such a nice flirt he looked all over the first row just smilling and winking like a bitch hahah, Brandon looked at us and when he caught sight with someone he turned out like he was embarrassed or something...there was just no feeling whatsoever! I was kind of disappointed of his performance, I walked out of the Velez stadium turned into a Travis fan! really! up to now I only knew they existed and I was really unaware of their music, thanks to the Killers I know a great live band! another one second to green day ofcourse which impressed me very much.

EARTHQUAKE IN PERU - ICA NEEDS HELP

Hello to everyone who reads this blog and crafts along with me. As many of you may know by now, yesterday we lived the horror of an earthquake of 7.9, luckily in Capitol City Lima damages were minimal. The epicenter was inside the sea but near the coastal city of Ica (6 hours away from Lima by car), and other districts such as Pisco and Nazca, they are now suffering greatly, 80% of the population has lost their homes there are over 450 deaths and thousand of injured, our government is doing now as much as they can, but unfortunately we do not count with much, we do not have enough helicopters, not enough food, not enough basic supplies. It is so bad that people is crying for coffins to bury their dead, but we can’t send them what they need because the highways are closed because they are cracked or cover of rocks, again we do not own enough helicopters or people specialized in the army for this type of situations. The European community has said that they will help us giving 1 million Euros to help. I really hope that more countries could help us, and more people be aware of this disaster and raise their voices to help.

UPDATE: the number of deaths has increased because the aid is failing to apply proper treatment to be victims and because the hospitals are either swarming with injureds or where destroyed by the earthquake.
